    Concert – Vid. Pattabhiram Pandith/TKV Ramanujachar/KU Jayachandra Rao/BR Ravikumar:
    NR Colony rama mandira
    A quick review:
As most of the rama navami season concerts, this also started late at around 7.30pm. Started with a very slow Kalyani Atta Thala Varna in two speeds. Raaraama intidaka in Asaaveri was brisk with good control and divinity. Next one was Rama nannu brovara in Harikamboji was awesome with nice kalpana swaras. Then came Paramapavana Raama in poorvi kalyani with detailed ragaalapana and usual mind blowing kalpana swara. A great thanks to both TKV mama and KUJ for wonderful support. Thani was excellent specially khanda nadai was very good. Post main items included Yadava Nee ba in Tilang then Yaman Raga alapana where TKV sir showed all different colors of this beautiful raaga. Sarwam brahma mayam was literally “brahmamayam”. Jagadoddharana in Kaapi was presented with little alapana. A rare thillana in poorvi – Niriniri Gamagarisa was just awesome again great follow by KUJ.

    Hi all,

I had a question. I was just going through TM Krishna’s FB account and found that one video from Thiruvayur is uploaded. TM Krishna is singing Jagadanandakaraka right near Swami’s samadhi. Why this special consideration to TMK to let him sit near the samadhi and sing? Rest all musicians do have a goshti gayanam. Why can’t TMK also be a part of it? Any special reason? Pl enlighten me on this.

Apart from regular concerts by veteran and upcoming artists in its acoustically designed auditorium, Ananya has also set up a music archive – Ananya Sangraha – which houses live recordings of over 10,000 hours by music stalwarts of yester years and of contemporary musicians, books, photographs and other education material. Kalasinchana, a Kannada monthly journal dedicated to music and fine arts, is published by Ananya and circulated among connoisseurs.
Ananya has extended its support to the artists through another unique scheme, Ananya Arogyadhara. This is a health help line to musicians who are in need for support towards medical expenses. Arogyadhara has a network of medical specialists and hospitals who have offered their services for the cause and financial support extended by the Arogyadhara Fund as decided by a committee. More than 90 musicians have benefited from this facility. Besides free consultancy, considerable rebate is offered on treatment as well as hospital expenses, if any. The extent of such assistance is decided by the committee on the merits of the case.

@Radhika: As is evident now, the R.K.Padmanabha concert isn’t part of the Ganjam series.

R.K.Padmanabha on the 19th of November (I don’t know the venue). Both are accompanied by Vid. Tiruvaarur Bakthavathsalam on the mridangam. Unfortunately, I have no further details.

Girish, if you call Gayana Samaja infinity, then what will Malleswaram be?!

There are really few concerts down in Koramangala, etc. Starting from Banashankari through the Market and into Basaveshanagara/Malleswaram have more stuff.

I’m in HSR Layout, and probably Malleswaram’s had the most concerts I’ve attended. =)

    Hi,

Attended Malladi Brothers concert at Gayana Samaja, It was fully packed with rasikas who were eager to listen to the duo. Concert started with KedaragauLa VarNa. and then there was a break for half an hour, due to bad sound system. I wonder why these people do not give importance to sound system. Artists have to really plead for increasing the volume. I feel sorry to say that it was a bad start to this conference. After setting up the sound system they sang Srimahaganapathim Bhaje in AtaaNa with very good swara prasthara. Nadaloludai was short and rendered beautifully. Reetigaula ragam was short and Mamahridayi of Vasudevacharya was again ultimate. main piece was Meenakshi me mudam dehi in PK. They were planning to wrap it up but the organizers allowed them to sing pallavi. it was in Sarasangi. One disappointing event was when they were still ending the rtp prasad came in front of them to give VOT. he could have entered the stage from left side, instead he entered from right and it was insult to the Artist.

Hope these Organizers will realize and provide better sound system.

A concert to forget at shankar mutt which had TNS singing. The acoustics if i can use such a heavy word was all over the place. The traffic flowing just 10 steps from the stage…CN.Chandrashekar should find a different career. TNS had no problems with his voice and I was expecting a memorable one. but he wrapped it under 2 hours. The main piece was saramati which lasted for half an hour and a lengthy sloka at the end. a good rithigowla at the start and I dont even remember the others. the sound was so bad. and Smt Vedavalli who was to sing today at Indiranagar sabha didnt arrive because off ill health. two disappointing days.

The Deccan Herald says Naadasurabhi’s going to have Malladi Bros today at St John’s Medical College — but I’ve seen mention of Naadasurabhi’s Annual series in *November* — and on 9 November, Malladi Bros’ programme is mentioned.

So are they singing both on 9 September and 9 November or what?

yeah…. at some point of time, it was only noise; not music.. it was sounding so harsh bcoz of that mike system….
To be honest, they could have ellaborated more during the jugalbandi…co-ordination could have been better…
    the concert was good though..

nagaraj rafique khan jugalbandi started at 8pm, s short hamsadwani followed by a short rtp in charukesi followed by a short thani by a marvelous pravin with ravindra yavagal. to quote mysore nagaraj “for the ugadi, the mic man teaches us patience.” hope the future ones are better.

short and sweet concert by Sreevalsan at bharatiya vidya bhavan, soorya festival, but a lot of disturbance because the audience was mainly for the dance program and hence lot of running around and chatting. he started with ninnu kori and siddhi vinayakam with a brief set of swaras. a nice kalyani alap followed by vasudevayani and swaras, a filler with gopalaka paahimaam, thodi was next with a brief alap, krithi “thaye yashoda” with neraval and swara and a brief thani. he finished with jagadhodharana and bhagyadalakshmi. the violin was very good by charulatha ramanujam and nothing extraordinary by sudhindra on mridangam and chakravarthy ? on ghatam.

U.srinivas concert was as always very good, he started with a varnam in begada, followed by mooladhara murthy in hamsadwani, ganamurthe in ganamurthe, ksheerasagara in devaghandhari, two purandaradasa krithis – rama rama in vasantha, narayana in shuddha dhanyasi, then came a beautiful piece in nagasvaravali “Sripathe”, the main was rtp in shubapantuvarali, followed by a bhajan and a few famous numbers wound up the concert. Bangalore Praveen was the star man of the concert, followed by srinivas and giridhar udupa on ghatam. C.N.Chandrasekar was invisible, was never to the wavelength of the trio, very bad. almost full house and restless audience. the family in front of me had come for a picnic packed with dinner, an old man was so loud on the phone, the whole audi and the artists attention turned to him.

Heart Beat team is Dr.S.Karthick on Ghatam with embar kannan on “silent violin” and others. looked up silent violin, it is a electric violin with low sound, i think it is useful to highlight the percussionists rather than the violin.

    6. RTP – Shubhapantuvarali – Chatushra Jhampa
Pallavi line: nIra nI karE tArE mAra sundarana
    Pallavi raagamaalika: Begada, Sri, Nalinakanti
    Swara raagamaalika: Kaanada, Hamirkalyani, Kaapi
    7. Ranga baaro – Maand – Adi – Purandaradasa
    8. Shlokam(maulava ganga) – Anandabhairavi, Sahana, Dhanyasi, Sindhu Bhairavi, (followed by)Vishweshwara – Sindhu Bhairavi – Rupakam
    9. Kaa Vaa Vaa – Varali – Adi
    10. Mangalam – Sourashtram – Adi – Tyagaraja

The concert started with a bang. Right from the Mayamalavagowlai, I was hooked. The neraval was brisk as usual and some really nice swara patterns as well. Loved the prayogams of datus. Thoroughly enjoyed the piece.
The Phalamanjari was just a filler with very few swara phrases in the end. Nothing great. Adequate.
Then came the Naatta. I have a huge soft spot for this raagam. I loved the aalaapanai. Quite detailed. HKV’s reply wasn’t as detailed. Jagadanandakaraka was taken up in a tempo which was more on the slower side. I know a lot of people consider it a waste of time to sing a Pancharatna krithi in a concert, but I was personally pleased. I love this krithi and it’s rarely heard in a concert. The neraval at ‘omkAra panjarakIra’ was decent.
Narasimha aagaccha in Mohanam followed. I was surprised to hear the raaga mudra for Mohanam and the ‘guruguha’ in the madhyama kaala sahityam. Definitely did not sound like a Dikshitar krithi, though it turns out it is. Filler.
The naattakurinji was excellent as far as I’m concerned. Extremely detailed aalaapanai, spanning every octave possible(there were a few slight shruti problems in the atitaara sthaayi though). I thought he structured the raagam really well. HKV’s responses were lovely too. The krithi was rendered well. the lack of neraval didn’t really bother me. The swarams were fairly detailed and his usual sarvalaghu patterns were aplenty.
The tani was excellent. Srimushnam Raja Rao and Ramanujam were in top form. Some of the tishra and khanda patterns are still in my head. And by Gayana Samaj’s standards, very few people went out during the tani I must say.
Then came the part of the concert I was waiting for the most. The RTP! I’d been asking him to sing a detailed RTP in Shubhapantuvarali for the past 4 or 5 concerts that he’d been coming to Bangalore. Got my wish last evening, and how! I was scared of a shortened RTP because it was already quite late, but no disappointments. It was extremely detailed. No dilutions whatsoever. The raagam was just laden with bhaavam(what with the raagam already tailor made for the shoka rasam). I almost had tears in my eyes by the time he touched the upper Shadjam. Just beautiful. Again, some extremely high phrases in the taara sthaayi. And when he got to the mandara sthaayi, HKV just gave up and said ‘I need a seven string violin to play what you are singing’ in a light hearted vein. I say this after every TMK concert, but that man’s voice has unbelievable range. I really enjoyed HKV’s aalaapanai as well. Again, completely brought out the bhaavam. Such a lovely raagam and executed to perfection by both TMK and HKV. The taanam wasn’t shortened either. For a change, the percussion joined in. Srimushnam was excellent in matching what Krishna was singing in the taanam. It was a total blast.
The Pallavi was in chatushra Jhampa taalam. First, he did a raagamalika of just the sahityam in Begada, Sri and Nalinakanti. The transitions back and forth between the raagams were excellent, with it being done half way through the pallavi line some times. Then came the neraval and swarams. Again, really good. Raagamalika of swarams in Kaanada, Hamirkalyani and Kaapi, each ending with the pallavi in the corresponding raagams. The Kaapi swarams stood out for me. Those few phrases were so rich with bhaavam. Ended with the main Shubhapantuvarali pallavi again. A mini version of a tani(if a one minute long kuraippu and korvai playing can be called that) was there as well. Overall, this RTP was a total treat. This turned out to be one of my favourite concerts just because of this one piece.
It was quite late and I thought he’d wrap up. But he sang Ranga baaro in Maand. It was unhurried and pleasing to the ears.
The Shlokam was really good too. Raagamalika in Anandabhairavi, Sahana, Dhanyasi and the last line sung in Sindhu Bhairavi leading to Vishweshwara.
Kaa Vaa Vaa was a request from a small boy. The boy said he was requesting it by himself and no one had asked him to request for it. And Krishna was really good to oblige and sing it for him. It was of course sung briskly.
The Sourashtram mangalam concluded the concert, and I walked out with a distinct sense of having enjoyed one of the best evenings at a kutcheri.

“I would like to compare the behaviour of Audience at diff Sabhas, when we look at ISS, Odakathur and Infosys Hall (unnati Center). The kind of people who come there are really concerned about the artists and concert. I have always enjoyed attending concerts at these places.”

Oh yes, I can second that… especially the recent set at Unnati. You could tell at those concerts that even the artistes were thoroughly enjoying performing for a discerning audience. Gayana Samaj has somehow always felt cheap, in every sense of the word.
I missed the Sanjay concert, but was there for the Sikkil Gurucharan one. Loved the Madhyamaavathi and the Ranjani RTP. Not a huge fan of the Kokilapriya. Gurucharan’s execution was fine, but I don’t warm up to the raagam itself. Would have traded for a more detailed Ranjani RTP itself any day.
Overall, he didn’t disappoint. I see great things for him in the future.

Will be attending Shankar sir’s and T.M. Krishna’s concerts. Really looking forward to those.

    Thansk Jayan,

Ya about Sanjay’s concert what shall i tell.. his every concert is verymuch informative.. Infact I was late to the venue on Tuesday. GF was packed even the reserved seats were full. I entered inside he was singing Shankarabharanam alaapana. before to that I think he sang Chalamelara in Marga HindoLa has thisone a couple of times in bangalore. Bagumeera in shankarabharana was very good with nerval and brisk swara prastara. Shivakamasundari in Mukhari was a small item (reminded me of saketharaman had sung this during last year at GS). there was one more thing to observe here after this song Sanjay wanted the Monitors to be put off and he had to ask repeatedly. Let me put it straight oflate GS administration is very bad.

The main item Palinchu Kamakshi in Madhyamavathi was a full repetition to the audience who witnessed KSG the previous day. Thani by Naiveli Venkatesh was like sprkling cloud. He usually uses the left had beats during thani(eda prayoga). Thanks to GS audience who were murmuring all the time. since I missed out on KSG concert I enjoyed Madhyamavathi to the core. :)

before rtp in Simhendramadhyama sanjay took Bhogeendrashayinam in kuntalavaraLi which again a played by KSG other day. RTP was good he took khanda Nadai in thanam which was amazing. as usual he took sahana and behag in ragamalika. other ragas were gangeyabhushani, hindoLa and mohana later when he took ananda bhairavi which suited the sahitya of pallavi, choosing the right raaga suruti to end the pallavi.

Dasara krithi in Desh raaga dasara nindisabeda was a slow tempo. He ended the concert with vishweshvar darshana karo it was againg a repeat song.

Finally overall very good concert… he sang with full energy as always doing full justice sang for 3 complete hours…

looking forward to see him in Koramangala… and obviously during the season in Madras (FYI he is giving 15 concerts in the season).

At the end thanks Badari for reserving a seat for me negotiating all mama’s and mami’s ;)

    Just a matter of Concern

in continuation with kiran, I had been to Sanjay and Sikkil’s concert where both the concerts were extremely good. but these mama’s and mami’s really untollerable. In sanjay’s concert there was a guy /uncle sitting behind me who was continuusly talking and when I turned back and starred at him he said “ondond nimshakku hinde thirugidre enu madakkagalla”. (I cant do enything if you turn back like for every min).

I really felt so bad being educated if these people only do like this how can people like me appreciate the and understand the intricacies of a Vidwatpoorna kacheri. My sincere request to all the rasika’s of music to please give respect to Artists by not disturbing the co audience.

I would like to compare the behaviour of Audience at diff Sabhas, when we look at ISS, Odakathur and Infosys Hall (unnati Center). The kind of people who come there are really concerned about the artists and concert. I have always enjoyed attending concerts at these places. Most horrible thing abt GS is that people dont even keep their phones in silent mode and adding to it attending calls inside the auditorium.

I have been attending concerts in Madras during the dec season from past 3 yrs. Please here are so matured that it will be pin drop silence. and even the Organizers make sure right people are allowed inside.

yesterday’s concert was too good, sikkil sang at his best. Started with Hamsadwnai Varnam, sreeramapadame was short and sweet. Dhasharathe Daharathi in Kokilapriya a composition of Koteeshwar Iyer was a rare Raga and krithi, before that when he sang elaborated Madhyamavathi alapana people who had attended the other two concerts would have felt the repitition of raga but alakalalla was again a krithi which were hardly get to listen in concerts. Thani was amazing by TBR what balance b/n left and right. after a short VOT sikkil dint dissappoint us. short RTP in Ranjani was mind blowing he did ragamalika in janaranjani and Sriranjani. Post RTP he sang another rare krithi in Chenchuruti(sorry if its wrongly spelt). This was a composition by NS Ramachandran and tuned by TSK. interesting thing is that in the anupallavi and charanam the it has graha bhedam and gets changed to Bilahari and Kharaharapriya..

forgot to mention that the stage arrangement this time is excellent… grt job… very traditional look to the stage…

Hope to attend Shankar Sir’s and TMK’s concerts.

I managed to listen to K.S.Gopalakrishnan’s flute at Gayana Samaj with lots of humming maamas and mridangam ku equally sounding thaalam podra maamas, ringtones and the eventual hello (a guy was on the phone for 20mins- shocking)and maamas n maamis constantly chatting. I hope there is a silent mode for many peoples tongue during a concert. Bad day. Also they charge 40 bugs.

    Vocal: Sri. T.M. Krishna
    Violin: Sri. H.K. Venkataram
    Mridangam: Sri. Tiruvarur Bhaktavatsalam
    Kanjira: Vyasa Vittal

    1. Rama neepai tanaku [S]- Kedaram – Adi – Tyagaraja
    2. Veenabheri [RS] – Abheri – Adi – Muthuswamy Dikshitar
    3. Sri Kamakoti peetashithe – Saveri – Adi – Mysore Sadashiva Rao
    4. Shankari Neeve [RS]- Begada – Rupakam – Subbaraya Shastry
    5. Himigiri Tanaye – Shuddha Dhanyasi – H.N. Muthiah Bhaagavatar
    6. Raagam Taanam followed by Punniyam Oru Koti [NT]- Keeravani – Adi (2 kalai) – Periasami Thooran
Neraval at: Annai Kaamaakshi polay anbe vadivaai vandaar
    7. Bhaja Govindam – Ragamalika – Adi – Sri Adi Shankara
    8. Govardhana giridhara – Darbari Kaanada – Adi – Narayana Theertha(?)
    9. Raama janaardhana – Shankarabharanam – Adi – Muthuswamy Dikshitar
    10. Mangalam – Sourashtram – Adi – Tyagaraja

The concert took some time to start, what with Bhaktavatsalam arriving late, and a certain kitten which had to be taken off the premises by Krishna himself, but once it did, the audience was in for a treat. A nice start with the Kedaram. Pleasant and soulful.
The Abheri was interesting. He sang it in the old sampradaya, not the Nagumomu version of the raagam that sounds dangerously close to Karnataka Devagandhari. Was pleased with the choice. A few good phrases of swarams as well.
The Begada was a delight. Just wish the raagam were a bit longer. The swarams were unhurried and all sung in the first speed. This was a good thing. Some excellent phrases in the mandara sthaayi. I’m sure there were a few phrases with the whole aarohanam sung in the mandara sthaayi itself. Krishna’s range always impresses me.
He sang Keeravani with alternating raagam and taanam. A very nice rendition of the krithi. Robust Krishna style neraval.
    The tukkudas were breezy.
On the accompanists, H.K.Venkataram was strictly satisfactory. Bhaktavatsalam was energy personified. The thani from him and Vyasa Vittal was brilliant. Some really good nadai bedham.
    Overall, a really good concert.

i went to the concert, went in for free and sat in a row which was priced at 2k. many had got their tickets thru net and when i called there were no tickets available while half the place was empty when i went there. most of them entered for free, those with tickets where ofcourse frustrated. the concert itself was pretty ok, 3 hours of rashid khan would have been fine, it was 1 hour of RK,1 hour of tmk and 1 hour of jugalbandhi. the jugalbandhi was oil on water stuff, they were not prepared clearly though it had its moments, Rashid Khan earlier presented Raga Puriya Dhanashree for an hour which was beautiful !!

It was one of the memorable concert in my life. did full justice by singing for 3 1/2 hrs (leaving VOT). What a man….. :)

RTP in Hindola was mind blowing with introducing some rare raagas hindustani like patdeep. Hats off to his collection of Varnams. Emanamidhiche was a good rere comp in Shahana.

main item was in kambodhi some Tamil krithi….

I will surely remember this concert forever…..

such poor arrangement from the organisers for tns concert. the place was small but one cant complain about that. the audience were so immature, phones ringing, constant chatting, lots of kids from hand helds to 5 year olds shouting.the rain did not help too, people passing in front of the performers constantly. and to top it all off the organisers put a camera and a screen behind which was totally useless and tns had to revolt when he was in the middle of a song. a very short concert and one to forget too.

omkar havaldar’s concert was very good at gayana samaj, hardly 35 people were present, he started with purvi kalyani with vilambit and a drut totaling an hour. the rendition was good, but the next piece was brilliant – nat malhar a mix of mian ki malhar and chayanat. he finished off with a few dasara krithis and sindhu bhairavi.

They opened with a short piece in nagasvaravali, then a kriti in shudha dhanyasi, Dharmavati was very good and kamboji was followed by thani, they finished of with ahir bhairavi. they never shifted past 3rd gear i felt, if i can put it that way !!

Ananya is presenting a new series of programme on allied Ragas.

A senior artist will provide deeper insight into the gross and subtle differences of grammar and tradition attached to the rendering of the Ragas allied to one or more in a pair or in a small group. The melodic makeup of each raga will also be highlighted. For young musicians this will enhance their mental perception and their grip on rendering of each raga. For discerning audience the distinctions and similarities in the melodic mode of each raga, in a bracketed pair pof group can become better discernable and each such raga more easily identifiable and enjoyable.

Some of the aliied ragas are- Aarabhi and Devagandhari, Aarabhi and Dharbaar, Bhairavi and Maanji, Bhoopalam, Bhouli and Revagupthi, MAdhyamaavathi and Sreeragam, Hameerkalyani and Saaranga, Malayamaarutham and Valaji, Lalitha and Vasantha, Chaarukaeshi and Sarasangi, Hindolam and Varamu, and so on.

The inaugural concert will be given by a well known musician and musicologist Vid.Dr.T.S.Sathyavathi, accompanied by Vid.Nalina Mohan and Vid.H.S.Sudhindra. This will be held at Ananya sabhangana on Sunday, 30th May 2010 at 10:00am.

    A brief review

The 1st May concert of Amrutha Venkatesh @ Ananya under the Guruguhaamrta banner went off pretty well.

    The song list
    1. Kanakambari karunya – Kanakambari (1st mela in Dikshitar School)
    2. Mangalambikayayi Namasthe – Malavashri
    3. Kumaraswaminam – Asaveri
    4. Pamarajana Palini – Sumadhyuthi
    5. Akshaya linga vibho – Shankarabharanam
    6. Sri Kamalambike

All are Dikshitar compositons not often heard. The singer tried to sing it as per the original notes present in the Sangita Sampradaya Pradarshini. Both G.Ravikiran and Amritha explained the subtle differences / nuances between the two schools taking some examples. (Unable to reproduce thanks to my not-so-indepth knowledge :)
Ably supported by both Raghu & Manjunath one could experience the haunting nature of some of these compositions and raagas.

My takeaway was – A scintillating experience to listen to some rare raagas were I guess there are hardly 1 or 2 compositions

I was there.. there was some talk when it was said that some artists on the stage belonged to “Karnataka” TMK didn’t like it…in the sense …he said that artists didn’t belong to a particular region, but belong to our nation…
I donno if there was some talk over the anthem….

KJY’s concert was moving so well for the first 1hr15 mins, until the CM intervened with atleast 10 photographers and innumerable securities and policemen, the photographers disturbed the artist so much it was painful to watch, the CM took away 20min and he read his speech and the guy could not even utter KJY’s name properly !! and visibly KJY who should have seen millions of such political gimmicks in his career hardly cared but i can only hope it was because of the CM he did not sing the main piece for the night. only bhajans and short songs filled the rest of the evening. A short thani around 6-7mins?, the violinist accompanied him very well and his playing posture spoke loads of volume of his respect for Yesudas.

At all who missed neyveli santhanagopalan at Sheshadripuram, He is singing at sevasadan malleshwaram tomorrow april 9th. The main piece, as he announced today at his concert at shankara mutt, basaveshwara nagar, would bee ramaneesamanamevaru. There is a nice story behind this:
Somebody gave a chit to neyveli with this song written in it. Neyveli, with his habit of singing whatever requested by the audience, didnt want to leave it. He announced then that whoever gave this chit please come tomorrow for my concert, I’ll sing this there !!!

Santhanagopalan concert at Seshadripuram was a delight. Main piece was madhayamavathi Rama katha Sutha. H.K.Venkatram seemed slightly out of sorts. Bhakthavathsalam on the mridangam exhibited his expertise and the naadam from his mridangam was soothing. G.S.Ramanujam’s Ghatam embellished the concerts with short flourishing phrases. Santhanagopalan also sang kamavardhani (raghuvara nannu) prior to the main piece. Entertaining music.

TM Krishna’s concert on 2nd august was amazing. U know what was the main piece? It was Viriboni- Bhairavi atta tala varnam!! It was really unique. He sang the neraval, swara kalpana and there was also tani avarthanam after that varnam. He sang 4 etthugade swaras and also the anubandha which many artists do not sing or even do not no at all.!!!
He’ll come 2 blr twice in november it seems.

I did attend, it was good, If I can post my personal thoughts not a review.

The concert started with Reethigoulai, Vanajakshi, although the initial nervousness set in where in they missed the pallavi lyrics.

Nattai was in a good tempo, and kalpana swaras rendered briskly, ably supported by Nagaraj

Varali raga was a bit monotonous, with the same brigas being repeated at all octaves, where as Yeti Janma had its own lyric forgetting phases . With over use of brigas, the niraval was sans Bhava.

Chenchu kamboji was at perfect tempo and sung with composure.

Mohanam ragam was well presented and the applause said it all as to how much it appealead although ardent Connoisseurs would have their own moment to criticize some of the brigas in Mohanam :) .

The rest of the concert was nice and well managed and sung with good azitham. Narayaneeya strotam followed by Chetashree, the Hari Bhajan, and Neelambari to name a few.

    Overall a well rendered concert,

    Waiting for TM Krishna’s today

I know it is not your fault :) I just wanted a place to vent my frustrations!
    Of course, annonymously !!

What has RR Keshavamurthy Foundation ” celebrating “Guru Smruthi 2009″
to do with a concert from Ranjani & Gayatri?

I do like them — however, RRK trained so many GOOD students … wouldn’t it be more appropriate for a TRUE deciple (as in someone WHO paid for all those classes/training) to pay homage ?

When you talk to any “musician” from Karnataka – they are so frustrated about having so many NON-karanataka musician performing at major festivals — while they themselves NEVER get any chance in Chennai – for example – however talented they are, i.e., these musicians from Karnataka. Now when the time comes to showcase such talent from studnets of RRK – what do I see ? The same old – same old !!

Same with Percussive arts center? Next time any one of them belonging to such illustrious organizations — starts to complain … I will direct them to YOUR web site :)

Again — -nothing to do with you — thank you for providing some space for me to express my views/frustration ?
