Sangeetha Sivakumar and team gave us a good concert at the Indiranagar Sabha, yesterday. Highlights of the concert was the Purvikalyani krithi and the Pallavi in Reetigaula. Concert started with the Nattakurtinji varnam and the natta krithi. Some good swara singing for the natta krithi set the tempo for the concert.
Purnikalyani alapana was very good. So was the krithi with its neraval and swaras. Two quick fillers before the main. Thodi krithi , overall was disappointment. She was trying too much of ‘bhrigas’ and wasn’t very convincing at times. There wasn’t anything notable in the overall presentation.
However, the RTP was very good. The alapana and tanam was fantastic. Pallavi also had trikalam and some good ragamalika swara singing. Already into the 4th hr, she concluded the concert with few devar namas and a thillana in khamas.
Ganesh Prasad was brilliant through out the day. His returns for Poorvikalyani , reetigaula and the ragamalika swaras were very pleasing. On the percussion, Balaji and Guruprasanna were very good too. They presented a structurally intrinsic tani avartanam, not those noisy ones, very well.
