Arguably, concert of the series (so far) and the first RTP  ( and what an pallavi it was). Sri Seshagopalan was in his sublime form yesterday at the Unnati Hall. Viriboni greeted me when I reached the hall. The darbar followed and his voice was still settling as he finished a set of swaram. The high octave sAkshatkara start of mokshamu galada ( I thought he was testing himself , till where he can stretch) made the change. He did not venture too high, but continued with the pallavi line in a very melodious way. The bilahari that followed was one to cherish especially for the accompaniment of Sri M Chandrasekharan and Guruvayur Dorai. It was very good.

He seems to be restless and unhappy over the usual speeches. He even called Ramesh , asking him to wind up fast.  Hope for a pallavi was on, and soon he started the surutti alapana. The next forty minutes was pure bliss. Easily transforming between Surutti and Desh , followed precisely on violin by Sri Chandrasekharan, the RTP was an outstanding demonstration of skill. An excellent concert by the three senior vidwans,  complimenting each other  vocally with sabashes  and in their respective field.
