Malladi Brothers presented a good concert yesterday at the Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha. Varali and Sankarabharanam were the pick of the day. After the main they have announced a short RTP in respect to Purandara Dasa on whose name the Indiranagar Sangeetha Sabha Auditorium is named. The pallavi lines might have been developed by them for this occasion ; aptly so.  Violin was good for varali and Sankarabharanam. Other places it was just ok. Arjunkumar was as enthusiastic as ever, with some good support by Sivaramakrishnan.

    Dear Jayan,

    Yes you are right.

The Sahana kriti is so good that I forgot the starting. And I don’t think I have heared the todi kriti.

    Anyway thanks.

    It was a good concert.

Nee vanti daivamu ( thyagaraja krithi) was rendered in thODi. However, there is a varnam in neelambari with the same line . There is also a krithi in varALi as ‘nee vanti daivamu gnAnanu ninnE’ by Spencer R.Venugopal.

The sahana krithi you are talking is ‘ee vasudha nee vanti daivamu’ , I guess.

    Dear Jayan,

Looks a great concert to me.Malladi’s are proving to be a delight to hear.It seems they are singing in Bangalore quite regularly. Some very favourite ragas of mine like Shankarabharanam, Varali etc.

Ni vanti daivamu IS it Thodi or Sahana??I have not heared the thodi song if it is thodi??

    Regards
