One of the best of the season so far. Hyderabad Brothers were rocking from the varNam. Some beautiful alapanas of gauLa, balahamsa , dharmavati and kharaharapriya, equally good , if not better, replies by Varadarajan; Mannargudi Easwaran in his top form with superb support by Ravikumar on Ghatam,.

Vijay Siva on the previous day was singing at will, the upper octaves with ease at Shesadripuram. Here Hyderabad Brothers were doing the same in the lower octaves at will during all the alapanas and how beautifully !  Surprisingly, after gaula Apalana,  he started singing the krithi without giving a chance to Varadarajan to do his turn.

Dharmavathi and Kharaharapriya Alapana were detailed ( 12 and 18 mins respectively) and elaborate was the violin reply by Varadarajan.  He deserves a special mention for his superb alapana and his neraval and swara following of the main artists. Some passages in the dharmavathi alapana was very catchy.

Taniavartanam was special. It was different from what I’ve heard before. Hyd Brothers remarked as ‘are you playing the reverse order’ . Hope to hear an expert view on this by someone who knows Tala aspects.

The end pieces were also superb, especially nArAyaNa with some special sangatis by the vocalist.
