Sri V V Subramanian & V V S Murari Violin , Bharat Sangeet Utsav, Indiranagar Sangeet Sabha 10 Feb 2008

11 Feb

Violin Duet  : Vid V V Subramanian & V V S Murari

Mrudangam : Thiruvarur Bhakthavalsalam

Ghatam  : Vaikom Gopalakrishnan

Time : 11:30 –  1: 40

I haven’t seen him live as he rarely perform these days and havn’t been to Bangalore in the last few years ( as far I know). Every thing was a gem,  be it sUryakAntham,  saraswathi , khamas or the main kharaharapriya

Here is the list:

01 hari nArayaNa – kEdAram

* as corrected by my friend in the comments, I have made the changes.

02 srI  Devi Shadadhara – srI rAgam – VVS

*  changed as suggested by Shravan.

03 muddumOmu elAgu – sUryakAntam – Thyagaraja ( A,S )

04 saraswati namOstutE – saraswati  – GNB

05 mAtE malayadhwajE – khamAs – ( A )

06 chakkani rAja – kharaharapriya – thyagaraja ( A,N,S,T )

elaborate alapana of kharaharapriya. Neraval at “kandiki sundara” and some nice swara singing followed by tani avartanam by Sri Bhaktavalsalam and Gopalakrishnan.

06 venkaTAchala nilayE – sindhu bhairavi -Purandara Dasa ( A )

07 mangaLam – saurAshtram

Just a correction, the 2nd piece was “Shri Devi Shadadhara” by VVS himself

    Thank you very much.

I went out to grab a quick bite and came in a bit late. So, made the mess of kEdAram. Deserve a knock on my head 🙂 .

1st item was not Nilambari, it was Hari Narayana in kedaram
No. 2 was ‘Shri Muladhara’ of MD in Shri
No. 5 was ‘Mate malayadhwaja’ the famous ‘daru’ in Khamas
