The wait was long. It did not start at 9:15. The mike gave trouble and took almost 15 mins to get going. But the wait was worth it. Vid GJR Krishnan Vijayalakshmi gave a superb concert at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan today morning. Dhanyasi , Bilahar and Kharaharapriya alapanas were top class. Sri Patri Satish Kumar was in good form during accompany and during the Tani Avartanam.

    Hi, No doubt. Dhanyasi was very good. Vasanthi is a bit of surprice as you seldom get to hear them in concerts.

    Infact, Sri VVS and VVS Murari had kharaharapriya as the main today ( chakkani rAja). That was one awesome rendering.

    The best, according to me, was the Dhanyasi piece. The Vasanti thillana was ecstatic – reminded me of the famous Ilayaraja (or Rahman) song in the same raga which exploits Vasanthi very well.

    No doubt Karaharapriya was great, but I can’t help comparing that with this great Khararahara priya alapana (by who else, the great LGJ). Listen to this.
